Mart DeHahn, Avner Boskey and Meno Kalisher live in Jerusalem show and tell the temple sacrifices (Part 1) which climax in the Sacrifice of Messiah Christ. Awesome. Halleluia. Life changing gospel truth.

Another great video from RBC, but I think that it didn't quite get to the heart of why sacrifice was acceptable in ancient times. Some offerings were of fruits and vegetables (like firstfruits). The Hebrews were asked to dedicate a portion of the harvest to God. The ancient Hebrews would also have slaughtered animals regularly for their food, so it could not have seemed so unusual to slaughter an animal in the temple to dedicate it to God. I believe that it is not a coincidence that Jesus came at the time when people were less involved in the production of their food, and therefore less understanding of the sacrificial system. In the same way, it is not a coincidence that he came around the time that books overtook scrolls as a superior way of communicating information, and so a better means of spreading the gospel.
